CORDET is pleased to announce that Rupert Atkinson has joined the CORDET Credit Team. Rupert is based in London and his focus will be to assess corporate credits, primarily unrated, and to develop the overall Credit Team within CORDET. Rupert will report to the CEO and Chief Credit Officer.
Rupert spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley, ten of which as Managing Director, and led the European Credit & Ratings Advisory Group for 15 years. In this capacity, in addition to advising a wide variety of corporates on their relationships with the leading international ratings agencies, Rupert and his team also served as an invaluable resource for the Leveraged & Acquisition Finance Group within Morgan Stanley’s EMEA Global Capital Markets, providing informed credit assessments and ratings estimates for Non-Investment Grade debt. Initially hired by Morgan Stanley’s Credit Department, Rupert served as Chairman of the International Industrials Credit Committee for a number of years, assigning and maintaining internal ratings for the purpose of managing corporate counterparty risk.
Before Morgan Stanley, Rupert spent 8 years with Standard & Poor’s, where he was a senior corporate analyst responsible for assigning and maintaining public ratings on a range of European credits, both Investment Grade and Non- Investment Grade. He started his career with The Mortgage Corporation, one of the pioneers of securitization within the UK mortgage lending market.
Rupert has a B.Sc. from Bradford University in Geography and Politics, and an MBA (with distinction) from Cass Business School, City University London.
Jakob Lindquist, CEO of CORDET, said: “I have worked closely with Rupert for nearly two decades. With more than 25 years’ experience analyzing European corporate credits, Rupert will significantly enhance CORDET’s Credit Team and enable CORDET to broaden our UK and Continental Europe origination, credit assessment and loan execution platform. We are pleased to welcome him to the team.”
