About CORDET

Established in 2013, CORDET is an AIFM and alternative credit investor that provides bespoke and scalable financing solutions to smaller mid-market companies in Northern Europe, meeting the need of many institutional investors for attractive risk-adjusted returns.

We offer commitment beyond credit: we aspire to act as a trusted, long-term partner, and are committed to enabling transformational growth for the companies we invest in – with a strong track record of providing follow-on capital to support the growth initiatives of our portfolio companies.

Having been a signatory to the UN’s Principles for Responsible Investment since 2014, we have a strong commitment to Responsible Investment, which we believe is instrumental for long-term value creation.

CORDET is regulated by the United Kingdom Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a full scope Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) by the AIFM Directive.

Approach

We are committed to enabling transformational growth for the companies we invest in and to finding attractive investments based on risk-adjusted returns for our investors.

We focus on the Business Services, Technology, Healthcare, Financials, Consumer, and Industrials sectors, with our portfolio companies often benefitting from niche market leading positions and underlying mega trends.

We typically provide financing for acquisitions, growth plans, or refinancings, and structure and terms are tailored to the needs of borrowers.

Our Investment and Credit Teams, as well as senior advisors, contribute a diverse range of perspectives, broadening the thought process behind every investment decision.

Facing increasing regulation and capital requirements since the Global Financial Crisis, banks have been undergoing a secular deleveraging, leaving a financing gap for many companies.

Demand for alternative credit solutions, in particular for smaller mid-market companies, has therefore been increasing. CORDET was established in 2013 with the ambition of satisfying this need in Northern Europe, while at the same time also meeting the need of many institutional investors for attractive risk-adjusted returns.

CORDET closed its debut fund in 2017 which was fully invested by 2019. The team completed 30+ transactions across 15+ different borrowers with a gross debt value of €700m+.

CORDET is currently investing from its second fund which was closed in 2021. The team has to date completed 30+ transactions across 15+ different borrowers with a gross debt value of €550m+.

The CORDET difference is based on the following four aspects.

Specialist focus: We have a clear focus on being a Credit Specialist. We only invest in sectors where we have extensive knowledge and experience (our circle of competence).

‘All-weather investor’ approach: The CORDET team benefits from strong lending and investing experience over several credit cycles as well as significant restructuring know-how, allowing us to successfully pursue an ‘all-weather investor’ approach.

Relationships: CORDET aims to build and maintain strong and longstanding relationships with our investors, borrowers, and other partners.

Alignment: CORDET believes in skin in the game. Therefore, the team owns the firm and co-invests alongside our investors.

CORDET’s mission is to build a successful, diversified, and leading European Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM).

The purpose of CORDET is to support the investors of the CORDET funds and to make relevant, enduring, and material improvements in their financial performance while operating as a first-class business which attracts, empowers, and retains exceptional talent.

We offer commitment beyond credit:

For our portfolio companies, we aspire to act as a trusted, long-term partner, and are committed to enabling transformational growth – with a strong track record of providing follow-on capital to support their growth initiatives.

For our investors, we want to provide attractive risk-adjusted returns through a focus on fundamental credit – our decision-making process is based on thorough bottom-up analysis, bespoke structuring, and appropriate pricing.
