CORDET invests in niche circular waste solutions business Biototal AB

CORDET is pleased to announce its latest investment, providing senior secured debt facilities to support MVI Equity (“MVI”) in its acquisition of a majority stake in the Swedish niche circular waste solutions business Biototal AB (“Biototal”).

CORDET is pleased to announce its latest investment, providing senior secured debt facilities to support MVI Equity (“MVI”) in its acquisition of a majority stake in the Swedish niche circular waste solutions business Biototal AB (“Biototal”). Together with the founders who are re-investing alongside MVI, Biototal will be set to accelerate its growth journey.

Biototal is a market leader within circular solutions for the agricultural industry and Swedish farmers. After being founded in 2006, Mr Jan Nystedt and Mr Tomas Kjellquist have built their company around putting farmers’ needs first, developing products and services for a sustainable food production. Biototal’s services incl. i) management of wastewater biosolids for wastewater treatment plants and utility companies; and ii) advisory around plant nutrition and crop production as well as supply of different products within the area to the agricultural industry and Swedish farmers.

Biototal, with its base outside of Linköping, has shown strong growth in recent years and through partnering with MVI it will be set to accelerate its growth journey. CORDET is providing additional committed and uncommitted senior secured debt facilities to support MVI and Biototal on this journey.

MVI as an active growth investor in the Nordic region, supporting driven entrepreneurs to take the next steps in their business. Together with the entrepreneur, MVI looks to add competence and knowledge within a wide array of areas, to create the next generation of Nordic companies.

The investment fits well with CORDET’s Direct Lending strategy, with Biototal benefitting from contracted revenue and non-cyclical supply-demand dynamics which has proven insulated from the COVID-19 crisis. Biototal also benefits from structural ESG trends from increasing demand for sustainable agriculture and circular waste solutions, supporting customers with circular waste management and providing renewable resources to farmers.
